We each have an important message to share – with our families, communities and world. And it’s essential to have the skills to communicate your message clearly so that other people are inspired to listen and take action toward a common vision.

One important way to empower yourself and others is to learn to deliver powerfully persuasive presentations.

They say that public speaking is one of the biggest fears people face. And yet, at some point, we are all called upon to stand up and deliver. Some people are born with natural skill and talent for it, while others sweat and torment themselves just thinking about it.
How many times have you heard a speaker that puts you to sleep? Or maybe you’ve left a presentation entertained, but it doesn’t translate into significant, measurable results in your business or life.

It takes just a handful of simple steps to elevate your skills and deliver powerful, persuasive presentations, leaving your audience entertained, inspired, and motivated to support your cause. And with these keys, your presentation can have the power to create quantum improvement and lasting change in people’s lives.

Also, these same simple steps can be applied to positively influence your family, friends, clients and colleagues every day!

Here are three essential keys to deliver persuasive and dynamic presentations, every time:

1) Congruency: How strongly do you believe what you’re saying? How committed are you to your message? Your audience will champion your vision to the extent you believe in it. This is true not just for presentations, but also for life. So how do you enhance your congruency? Congruency is part confidence, and part knowledge. When you know your subject inside and out, you have the confidence to speak with authority. But even if you don’t yet have total confidence on a subject, passion will make up the difference! So put yourself in states of excellence. Create juice, momentum, inspiration within you, and it will ooze and infect your audience with enthusiasm, too.

2) Rapport: Does your audience unconsciously feel drawn to you, knowing that you have their best interests at heart? Do they embrace your suggestions and say, “me too!” instead of “so what?” Rapport takes the struggle out of the interaction, and makes it easy and enjoyable for everyone. Rapport is more than just “liking” someone – it’s having a deep connection, or feeling of familiarity. People like people who are like themselves – so observe your audience and respond to their needs. Ask questions and engage them in dialogue. Respect your audience’s intelligence, and assume you have their respect, too.

3) Flexibility: Keep changing your approach until you reach your objective. Adapt your communication to speak into your audience’s listening. Everyone learns differently, so adapting to the needs of your group ensures they get the message. Flexibility comes with awareness of subtle cues from your audience. Are they twiddling their thumbs, texting, or tapping their feet? If they are, they’ve probably lost you for a second, and it’s time to grab their attention with something unexpected. Are they totally with you? Then go deeper, and give them even juicier bits of information – beyond what they were expecting. Tailor your presentation to your audience’s needs and they will be equally responsive and appreciative of you and your message.

With just these three keys, you can quantum leap your results in your presentations and become the dynamic speaker that has the audience begging for more.

One person’s awakening elevates the consciousness of the planet — You are the one!

What’s the difference between a goal that you’ve achieved, and a goal you set but that didn’t come to pass?

What are some simple steps you can take to ensure that when you create goals, you know with certainty you will achieve them?

Now, before I explain HOW to materialize goals, what are some of the reasons why someone might set a goal and NOT achieve it? Here are just a few of the reasons that people fall short or quit on their dreams and goals:

A part of them doubts it, doesn’t believe it, or thinks they don’t deserve it

The goal isn’t clear or concise – it has too many moving parts or stipulations

They feel like they HAVE to do it – they lack the JUICE & VERVE to attain it

The goal is TOO specific – it seems impossible or unbelievable

They micromanage their goal, without trusting their creative power or the power of the Universe to BRING IT

They haven’t created the LIFE CONDITIONS for the goal to materialize

They can’t see it, feel it, hear it – it isn’t real or compelling for them

How awesome would it be to have a simple and powerful system to not only CREATE goals, but also ATTAIN them (or even better!) – every single time??? There is a science to materialization. This is not just philosophy.

Here are eight steps I’ve found are ESSENTIAL to materialize your grandest goals:

1. Recognize and transmute old doubt, worry, fear, self-sabotage or uncertainty that held you back in the past.

2. Create clear, concise, congruent and compelling goals, inspired by your deepest values.

3. Harness and purposefully direct your creative life force to fuel and energize your goals and generate heat and momentum toward their rapid (or instant!) materialization.

4. Design and practice specific rituals to invite sacred intention and Divine guidance to support you in realizing your goals.

5. Invoke states of total certainty and centered power within you so that you take the essential actions in alignment with your highest self.

6. Release your goals with full faith and gratitude knowing that it is already done.

7. Be completely open and receptive to the infinite possibilities and full materialization of your goals – which often emerges even grander than you could ever imagine.

But those are just seven steps, you say? What’s the eighth?

It’s coming together with a supportive community who will encourage, inspire and nurture you and your vision.

Remember…

One person’s awakening elevates the consciousness of the planet — YOU are the one!

Blessings & Love,
This is my idea of a rockin' event! Let's get together for this bold new step into the future of leadership. :)

Who are the leaders who have inspired you the most?

In my life, I’ve been blessed to know many incredible leaders – visionaries who hold an idea of possibility so steadfastly, with such purpose, tenacity, grace and light, that through their focus, the imaginary becomes real, and our world is better for it.

Think of a few of the leaders who have completely transformed our world: Martin Luther King, Jr., who brought us greater peace and justice for all; Mother Theresa, who brought us even deeper compassion; JFK, who inspired a generation to believe they could reach for the moon; Walt Disney, who brought child-like wonder to kids of all ages, everywhere.

These are a few leaders whose visions influenced our world, and they inspired leaders on every scale.

Leaders tap into the genius within, sharing their gifts with the world, shining their light, and igniting a passion in those they touch. When each of us shine our light, the effect is exponential.

This is why I am so inspired to share with you an event of a truly epic scale. It’s called Leaders Causing Leaders, and it’s coming to the Long Beach Convention Center, November 6 & 7, 2010.

The cool thing about this event is that it acknowledges that we ALL get to be leaders. We all get to be visionaries. We all get to be champions of our dreams and bring them into fruition. And as more of us get together in community to support one another, we generate massive momentum, quickening the process, and creating quantum evolution in our lives – in our families, communities, countries, and in our world. How awesome is that?

I am blessed to be speaking at this event, and I’m joined by over 100 leaders, visionaries, thinkers, speakers and performers from a broad array of backgrounds. Together we share our wisdom and inspiration and create the opportunity for the expansion of consciousness everywhere.

What happens when you gather over 100 leaders, visionaries, thinkers, artists, speakers and performers to share their wisdom and inspiration over the course of 2 days?

The energy, momentum and enthusiasm generated has the power to create and propel a movement (or many!). When you attend an event like this, you get fueled up with this inspirational energy, you meet incredible people who are tuned in and turned on and ready to make things happen. You form fast friendships and share visions, learning, growing, expanding, creating, discovering. Wow.

So, if you have a vision, this is the place to fuel it,

If you’re vision has been a little fuzzy, this is the place to clarify and crystallize it,

If you haven’t discovered your vision yet, this is the place to be inspired, discover your passion and gain the momentum toward the hugest, most magnificent vision ever!

I invite you to join me for this incredible experience.

Here’s a few of the AMAZING events taking place at this inspiring gathering:

Over 100 speakers and performers… including yours truly (Niurka!), Jason Mraz (he’s so cute!), and Byron Katie (an incredible woman of wisdom!)

Live Evening Performances… 8 beautiful musical groups performing non-stop, including my dearest friend Larisa Stow!

All Day Yoga & Activities with Top Teachers… including John Friend (the founder of Anusara® Yoga)!

Career Networking Session… YOU can connect with other radiant, inspired beings to support others in their vision while they support YOU in YOUR vision!

Multimillion Dollar Conscious Money Unveiled… Hmmm… we’ll just have to attend to learn more about what this means!

Topanga Film Festival at LeaderShift 2010… constant screenings of conscious movies, Yay!

Challenge Day… as seen on MTV and Oprah at LeaderShift 2010!

Huge Surprise to be Announced Saturday Morning… You must be present to discover it!

Youth & Teen Leadership Program… the future of our world! So bring the whole family… children, friends, grandparents, and everyone you know!

Join me for this bold new step into the future of leadership. You can participate in exhilarating panels, seminars and workshops on topics from technology to social entrepreneurship. Some of the great teachers of our time will be present, and we’ll enjoy a vibration-raising conscious music festival. You’ve gotta come!

Congruency, rapport and flexibility are three of the most important points to influence anyone. So how can you develop these skills even more? Read on to find out...

Greetings & Blessings!

In my last post I mentioned how essential congruency, rapport and flexibility are in presentations and influence; and I encouraged you to become aware of your level of congruency, rapport and flexibility in your daily life. So…if you practiced (and even if you didn’t!) I’ve got a quick, fun quiz for you:

1) What happens in a conversation or presentation if a speaker lacks congruency, rapport, or flexibility:

a) The audience rolls their eyes

b) The audience starts texting their friends or getting up to go to the bathroom

c) The audience gets amnesia and can’t remember what was presented

d) All of the above.

2) Ok, here’s a more empowering multiple choice: when you have absolute congruency, rapport and flexibility, which of the following are true?

a) Your audience jumps up and down and cheers and says let’s march!

b) Your audience becomes raving fans: they love and respect and adore you and hang on every word you say, hungering for more

c) Your audience gets the message so deeply, clearly and completely that they could practically teach what you’ve shared with them

d) All of the above.

If you answered “D) All of the above” to both questions – congratulations! Fifty extra points to you!

Yes, congruency, rapport and flexibility are three of the most important points to influence anyone. So how can you develop these skills even more?

1) Congruency: Congruency is the rock-steady power state that emerges when your thoughts, words and actions are aligned with your higher self and the universal flow. When you are clear, centered, and tapped in to your inner wisdom, you have congruency. It’s also part confidence, and part knowledge. When you know your subject inside and out, you have the confidence to speak with authority. But even if you don’t have total confidence on a subject just yet, passion can make up the difference! So put yourself in states of excellence. Create juice, momentum, inspiration within you… and it will ooze and infect your audience with enthusiasm, too.

2) Rapport: Rapport is more than just “liking” someone – it’s having a deep, authentic connection, or feeling of familiarity. People like people who are like themselves – so observe your audience and respond to their needs. Ask questions and engage them in dialogue. Respect your audience’s intelligence, and assume you have their respect, too.

3) Flexibility: Flexibility comes with awareness of subtle cues from your audience. Are they twiddling their thumbs, texting, or tapping their feet? If they are, you’ve probably lost them for a second, and it’s time to grab their attention with something unexpected. Notice – are they totally with you? Captivate them and go deeper, and give them even juicier bits of information – beyond what they were expecting. Tailor your presentation to your audience’s needs and they will be equally responsive and appreciative of you and your message.

These are just three of the most essential points to become a dynamic public speaker. Over the past 15 years as a presenter, speaker and trainer, I’ve distilled thousands more skills and strategies that can completely elevate your presentations.

Remember…

One person’s evolution elevates the consciousness of the planet – You are the one!

Peace & Blessings,

Purposeful Leadership is NOT:

A “Do-To” process

A one-time curriculum that is implemented and forgotten

A flavor of the month idea or management fad

A quick fix

Purposeful Leadership IS:

A “Do-With” Process

A proactive values-driven methodology for running an organization

A way of doing business

Only as strong as the leaders that cultivate it

Purposeful Leadership begins as an inquiry into the state of the corporate culture that generates the existing results. Understanding the underlying causes and tendencies that both support and impede superior performance is vital to achieving consistent excellence measured in units sold, CSI scores, internal feedback, and profits. Aligning all resources towards a shared vision is the purpose of this curriculum. This vision must go beyond a statement on a plaque. It must become ingrained in the hearts of every team member. This vision is the nucleus of the corporation. It fosters a framework within which team members carry out the organizational mission, make decisions, perform functions, and ultimately achieve all objectives.

A good leader influences almost effortlessly through their beliefs, ethics, values, character, knowledge, and skill. An effective leader is not superior. Leading means creating a vision and communicating, guiding, training, coaching and motivating others to work effectively to achieve a common goal.

Leading means creating a vision for the organization

Leadership is the ability to influence and motivate. The setting is irrelevant; leaders can be found in all areas of life, not just business. There is a big difference between a leader and a manager. A leader instills ardor and focus in the group.

Today’s leaders embrace empowerment which gives everyone more freedom to become self directed and self motivated. Managers aim to produce order and stability while leaders embrace and guide change. A leader creates the vision and passes it to others, establishing shared values, ethics, and changes. Powerful leaders inspire and create an environment that continually nurtures that inspiration.

There are certain qualities that leaders must possess: effective communication of a vision, the ability to propel that vision into action, the ability to establish values, promote ethics, and embrace change. Leaders rarely all fall into one category. In some environments, leaders give instructions and direct. This type of leadership may be seen where employees are not considered skilled enough to make decisions on their own. Yet other leaders guide by empowering others, allowing their followers to make most decisions on their own. In this situation the leader acts as a coach and team member. Everyone is enabled with the tools and education needed to make the right decisions.

A leader sets an example with sensitivity and compassion, giving responsibility, and gaining the trust of the team. Leaders show concern for others and the overall well being of individuals and the collective. In an organization, a leader transforms the way that business is done, propelling the organization into the future.

Have you ever scheduled an appointment or made a commitment, and then an unexpected challenge arose that required your immediate attention? What did you do?

Did you improvise, adapt and overcome?

I’m a big believer that you can have your cake and eat it, too – when you have just a little creativity, flexibility and resolve.

My life has taught me that beyond every challenge is a seed of great opportunity, and the greater the challenge, the greater the opportunity. Haven’t you ever said to yourself, “I would never be where I am or who I am if it wasn’t for __(blank)__?” (The “blank” being a past experience that you perceived at the time as incredibly traumatic or negative, and with hindsight 20/20, now you have the wisdom to recognize the gift beyond that challenge.)

When you look for the gift even in the midst of the challenge, you can give yourself the gift of hindsight now. What would happen to your life if you consistently sought the treasure beyond challenge?

Remember…

When you change, the world around you changes – You have that much power!

Love & Light,

The End of Life as We Know It

Whatdya think? Could it happen? I believe it could. I don’t mean the doomsday Armageddon version where all hell is unleashed on Earth and we all die in a big earthquake or meteor explosion. No way!

I mean the end of life as we know it is something much more thrilling…

When each of us wakes up to the fact that our thoughts create our experience of reality and we have the freedom to choose and the power to create a life of peace, prosperity and passion… that’s when the real adventure begins. That’s when real change starts snowballing into every household, company, community, country and ultimately the whole planet.

When we each live out the highest truth of who we are and make conscious choices aligned with our vision… that’s when we’ll really start to see massive progress with things like climate change, AIDs, global poverty, LOCAL poverty, war, hate and repression.

THAT is the end of life as we know it… and boy, am I pumped about it!

Imagine how your life would be different if you knew inside that you have the freedom and support to live your purpose and fulfill your destiny… and so did everyone else. What if your grandkids’ grandkids never knew the meaning of poverty or hate?

Sound idealistic? Maybe. But I see this shift in global consciousness happening all around me. It’s happening now. I think so many people are experiencing a MAJOR shift in values even as we speak… and I think that’s awesome.

“Bigger, Better, More” doesn’t appear to be the way of the future. So what is the way of the future? Well, what is it for you? What’s your vision? What do you want to create for YOU?

Because ultimately, it all comes down to YOU. Your life, your values, your choices. Remember: One person’s evolution can transform the consciousness of the planet. Are you the one?

The choices you make influence every area of your life – and not just your life, but the consciousness of the planet. (Yes, you have that much power!) And you can consciously make consistent choices that propel you in the direction of your wildest dreams.

You can align your choices with your highest self so that you can fully express your passion and live your purpose elegantly in the world. That’s the end of life as we know it.
